The collection includes representative poets from different languages ​​and cultural circles and presents the main thematic and stylistic changes in European lyric poetry: from religious and chivalric poetry of the Middle Ages, through Renaissance and Baroque lyric poetry, and all the way to more modern poetic expressions. The special value of the anthology is that it provides a comparative insight into the development of motifs such as love, transience, nature and spirituality through different eras and European literary traditions. The book is intended as a comprehensive reading and teaching material, useful for students of literature and all who wish to systematically learn about European lyric poetry in historical continuity.
