Reeve is neither rich nor famous, but his inner strength, consistency and moral uprightness make him a contrast to a world that increasingly values superficial success, money and status. The story intertwines the fates of his family, friends and colleagues, and especially the relationship with his son, who wants to follow a different path. The novel explores the clash of generations, disappearing values and the challenges of staying true to oneself in a changing world.
