Susjedi
In the suspenseful psychological thriller Neighbors, young doctor Sophie is trapped in the home of a suspected pedophile as an angry mob surrounds the building. The girl's disappearance sets off a chain of dark secrets.
British thriller master Minette Walters' novel Neighbours is set in a bleak neighbourhood full of social tensions, where hordes of alienated teenagers and single parents live on the edge of the law. Young doctor Sophie Morrison arrives in this hostile neighbourhood for an emergency intervention, but soon finds herself trapped in the house of a patient who is accused of paedophilia by an angry mob of neighbours and demands his expulsion.
As tensions and threats of a lynching build outside the house, the situation spirals out of control, and the tension escalates further with the disappearance of a little girl, Amy. Sophie suddenly finds herself at the centre of a dangerous web of crime, prejudice and deep-seated secrets in which no one is what they seem.
Walters masterfully questions the limits of human tolerance, morality, mass psychosis and collective guilt, delivering a dark and layered story that keeps the reader in suspense until the very end.
