Zagor LU #92: Sotonski izum
Professor Verybad invents a serum that shrinks people and objects. When corrupt soldiers kidnap him, Zagor begins a pursuit that gives the familiar world a terrifying new scale.
In Sotonski izum, Professor Adolfo Verybad unveils a discovery capable of transforming humanity’s relationship with its surroundings: a serum that shrinks people and objects. But the invention also attracts those who see scientific progress as an opportunity for crime. Corrupt Lieutenant Castle and his accomplice, Sergeant Craven, abduct the professor and turn his own discovery against him.
Zagor pursues the kidnappers, confronting opponents with an advantage unlike anything in an ordinary chase. Changing size creates new opportunities for concealment, deception and escape, while exposing people to dangers that are difficult to anticipate. Saving the scientist requires Zagor to understand the invention’s extraordinary possibilities.
Moreno Burattini constructs a science-fiction adventure about the misuse of knowledge. A discovery that initially inspires wonder becomes an instrument of coercion and violence. Kidnapping, pursuit and dangerous experiments prepare the way for a radically different encounter with familiar surroundings.
Franco Devescovi illustrates this adventure centred on Verybad’s serum. The issue establishes the characters and threat developed further in the following regular Ludens issue, #93, Nemoguća dimenzija. Reading the two in sequence provides the intended progression of the story.
