Der Autor dieses Buches kritisierte die Kirche in den frühen Jahren seiner psychoanalytischen Praxis, wie viele seiner Kollegen. In diesem Buch beschreibt er in Form eines Bekenntnisses seine persönliche Entwicklung und seine Beziehung zum Glauben, nachdem er erfahren hatte, dass die Kraft des Glaubens keine theologische Formel, sondern eine erfahrbare Realität ist.
