The Simon and Garfunkel Collection

The Simon and Garfunkel Collection presents seventeen songs by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, combining acoustic simplicity, rich vocal interplay and carefully shaped arrangements. The collection offers an accessible overview of their shared repertoire, from direct folk rock to ballads that develop into powerful emotional statements.

The opening I Am a Rock and Homeward Bound demonstrate concise storytelling, while America opens a broader picture of travel and searching. The 59th Street Bridge Song adds brightness, and Scarborough Fair/Canticle reveals the beauty of interwoven voices and melodic lines. Acoustic sound remains an important foundation even as the arrangements become more elaborate.

Central titles include The Boxer, The Sound of Silence and Mrs. Robinson. Contrasting rhythms and moods give the selection variety, while the melodies and lyrics invite repeated listening. Cecilia and A Hazy Shade of Winter add momentum, while Old Friends/Bookends provides a quieter, more reflective moment.

The closing Bridge over Troubled Water rounds off the compilation with a powerful ballad performance. This CD suits lovers of folk rock and expressive vocal harmony, as well as listeners discovering the duo through familiar songs. Seventeen tracks offer variety without losing a sense of unity. The collection’s particular appeal lies in the meeting of Simon’s songwriting and Garfunkel’s voice, with an attention to detail that makes even well-known melodies worth rediscovering.
