Tibor Sekelj (1912–1988) was an explorer, travel writer, ethnographer, writer and promoter of Esperanto, originally from present-day Vojvodina. He devoted most of his life to traveling to almost all continents, exploring different cultures and peoples, often in remote and difficult-to-reach areas. He was a member of numerous scientific societies and actively participated in promoting peace and universal communication through Esperanto.
