Sunce nad rijekom Sangan

The novel Sun over the Sangan River by the Chinese author Din Lin (also known as Ding Ling) was published in 1950 in Zagreb, translated from Russian by Josip Smolčić.

The work deals with the topics of social injustice, agrarian reform and the position of women in Chinese society during the first half of the 20th century. Through the story of the life of the inhabitants along the Sangan River, the author shows the peasants' struggle for a better life, conflicts with traditional values ​​and the impact of political changes on everyday life. The novel emphasizes the importance of education, emancipation and collective solidarity in the process of social change.
