Sudbine

Sudbine

Janko Matko

In the exciting novel "Destiny", find out whether an arranged marriage can be long and happy, or whether it is doomed to failure.

In fear of the Turkish army and the persecution of their children, three Bosnian families flee and find salvation in the vicinity of Krašić, where good people from the villages of Brlenić, Lazina and Prekrižje offer them accommodation during the winter. Two weddings were arranged in the village of Brlenići at that time, but in both cases one of the newlyweds was not happy. The village blamed the copper workers for that. In the shadow of those weddings, Mijo Ban and Rozica Matko stared at each other, aware that their relationship was doomed because Mijo is a refugee from Bosnia. In order to win her hand, Mijo had to defeat five strong village boys in a wrestling match. Still, he won. And while the village suspects that Mija was helped by the coppersmiths, Rozica accepts Mija's request and becomes the first girl from a wealthy cooperative to become a homeless person. But the village still thinks that Rozica is bewitched...
