Anđeli će samo zaspati

Merita Arslani

Angels do not have a timetable for when someone will die. Angels do not know why someone must die, but the secret of remaining in this world and leaving earthly life cannot be revealed to everyone, and only the chosen ones are instructed in it.

The mystery of life and death is revealed to the few. This is the story of thirty-year-old Katarina, a young woman full of life, and her guardian angel who is entrusted with the harrowing task of announcing to her that she will soon die - the debut novel by journalist Merita Arslani.

Katarina is thirty-year-old, lives in Zagreb and works on television as a scriptwriter for entertainment shows. One day, she receives a call from Danijel, her guardian angel, who has come to tell her that she is sick and will die in three months. Until that day, Katarina did not even know that she was sick, and she had never thought about guardian angels or thought that they really existed. Although she believed that there was a world beyond the world we live in, she did not expect that she would be the one to receive proof that another world existed.

At first confused, Katarina did not believe that he was truly an angel, let alone her guardian angel, but with his help and effort, she gradually began to discover the world in which she would continue to live after death. And while Daniel reveals to her what life after death is like, Katarina uses the time she has left to summarize everything she has done throughout her life. Together with him, she remembers some important things and events in her life, and these same events remind her of some songs, and she gradually composes a "soundtrack" of her life with her guardian angel.

Daniel, disappointed from the beginning that the time for Katarina's departure has come so quickly, persistently tries to figure out how Katarina can live for a while longer. He tried to convince the other angels to leave Katarina where she is, but that remains only his wish. He sees an opportunity in an unexpected event. One of Katarina's colleagues, with whom he has worked for five years, reveals to Katarina that he has been in love with her for a very long time, but he had never had the courage to tell her before. For the confused Katarina, this is the least she needs at the moment she is dying, and she has not been lucky in love until now and she is a little tired of love affairs.

However, Katarina does not know that the angels have given in to Daniel's demands and have agreed that if Katarina manages to fall in love this time, they will let her live...
