Tragovi osječke zabavne glazbe

Branko Mihaljević

The author of the anthology children's poem "Zeko i potočić", which cannot leave even adults indifferent, is one great Esseker - Branko Mihaljević.

Branko Mihaljević is a native of Zagreb by birth, but the fact that he was not born in the city on the Drava river did not prevent him from winning the title of Osijek resident of the 20th century, as elected by the citizens themselves. Mihaljević spent his life and work as a composer, writer, journalist and radio editor.

In addition to "Zeka i potočić", a song that has become part of everyone's collective consciousness, Mihaljević is the author of another anthology composition. It is about the song "My Osijek", the anthem of the city where Mihaljević achieved the greatest heights of his career. He also published the book "Traces of Osijek pop music" (2002) about the genesis of Osijek music. He is also the author of the theater play "Rabbit, Rabbit and Lamb" (1958), which is still performed today in the Children's Theater in Osijek, which has been named after him for the past few years. "Slavonian Rhapsody", a Slavonian ethno-musical from 1978, is in the repertoire of the Croatian National Theater in Osijek.
