The lavishly illustrated encyclopedia is the work of distinguished world experts who present art in a new way, offering a different view of its history. Significant movements in painting, sculpture, architecture, etc. are presented in chronological order.

The work of a group of authors on the history of art from prehistory ˝to the future˝. Each chapter (respectively period) has a corresponding text, then an analysis of individual works (significant, interesting or typical), an overview of key personalities or events in that period, synoptic tables, and individual artists or works are specially treated (e.g. Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Velazquez and others). This general history of art is richly illustrated, and also contains a glossary, bibliography, index of names and names of works.
