Sjene smrti – svjetlo utjehe

Sjene smrti – svjetlo utjehe

Gereon Goldmann

Everything that Father Gereon described in the book is authentic because it is based on his own experiences. Rarely has a book of this literary genre aroused as much interest and been translated into various world languages as this book.

German Franciscan, missionary in Japan, Gereon Goldmann was born in 1916. In August 1938, he finished his studies in philosophy. From September 1939 to the summer of 1947, he was a soldier, first in the armed forces of the SS, and then in the regular army. Accused by Nazi zealots of spreading anti-Hitler propaganda, he was tried by a military court, but was miraculously acquitted. Until his capture, he worked in ordinary units as a paramedic. He was captured in January 1944, ordained as a priest in a camp in Algeria... In this biographical prose, the author uses the method of selecting the main moments and events that, in his opinion, were important for the further course of events. The events are narrated with ease, convincingly and with a great sense of detail that does not burden the main thought - that everything in life happens under the guidance of a good and often incomprehensible providence.
