Faith is a newcomer, housewife and mother who hides a terrible secret; tall, beautiful Audrey is a sex goddess who knows that with good looks and attitude you can get away with anything; Merit is the shy wife of a doctor with an angelic face and a family hell with an abusive husband; Kari, a wise woman with a wonderful smile who knows that the greatest gifts appear after life's fiercest storms; and finally Slip, an activist and adventurer, a nimble little girl who looks trouble straight in the eye and challenges her to a fight. Sticking together through forty interesting years, they face the kind of challenges that only come before those who have the guts to stay alive and energetic.
