Lorna Landvik

Lorna Landvik's first novel translated into Croatian is a humorous story about women in their forties, longtime friends who build careers, raise children and grandchildren together.

They are housewives. They spend their monotonous days fully convinced that there is nothing that good coffee, delicious desserts and a shoulder to cry on can't fix. Faith is a newcomer, housewife and mother who hides a terrible secret; tall, beautiful Audrey is a sex goddess who knows that with good looks and attitude you can get away with anything; Merit is the shy wife of a doctor with an angelic face and a family hell with an abusive husband; Kari, a wise woman with a wonderful smile who knows that the greatest gifts appear after life's fiercest storms; and finally Slip, an activist and adventurer, a nimble little girl who looks trouble straight in the eye and challenges her to a fight. Sticking together through forty interesting years, they face the kind of challenges that only come before those who have the guts to stay alive and energetic.
