Iz predgovora: "Belje" PIK je osnovan 1698. Sedište imanja je u početku bilo u Bilju, a od 1827. u Kneževu... Jugoslovenska akademija je, prihvatajući pokroviteljstvo naučne grupe koja će istraživati "Tri veka Belja", smatrala da proučavanje iskustva tog velikog kolektiva u Belju može doneti i brigu ne samo o jednom naučnom kolektivu u Belju, već i o tome socijalizma i brži napredak socijalističke privrede“.
