Novi svet: Lik stvari koje dolaze

Herbert G. Wells

Wells' vision of the future depicts the collapse of the old world, global wars, and the creation of a new world state based on science, technology, and the planned organization of society. A history of the future with 68 images.

The New World – The Shape of Things to Come is one of Wells' most ambitious works, conceived as a "history of the future" that extends from the author's contemporary times to the distant future of humanity. The work is structured as a pseudo-scientific historical overview of events that follow the collapse of the existing international order.

Wells analyzes the collapse of old nation-states, economic crises, technological progress and a series of global conflicts that gradually lead to the creation of a centralized World State. In this new order, science, education and technical management become the foundation of society, while traditional political and religious structures are gradually suppressed.

The text combines essayism, political theory and speculative fiction, so the work is often read as a dystopian-utopian vision of the modern world. The idea that the control of knowledge and information will shape future civilization is particularly emphasized, which makes it one of Wells' key works in the development of the concept of the "world state".
