Dušan Đurović

"Fires" (1965) by Dušan Đurović is a novel with a strong war and psychological charge, set during the Second World War in the territory of Montenegro.

The plot follows a group of people whose lives are changed by the pressure of occupation, struggle, betrayal and moral dilemmas, while in the background the “fires” of war spread and engulf entire communities. Through characters struggling between duty, fear and their own conscience, the novel depicts the brutality of conflict, but also resilience, solidarity and humanity in the most difficult moments. The work stands out for its realistic style, powerful descriptions and deep emotional tension.
