Omiški gusari

Omiški gusari

Alojz Majetić

The novel belongs to the children's historical novel genre with a theme from the second half of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century in Dalmatia.

Although it is a serious historical topic, the author does not present it pathetically or idealize Croatian heroes, but rather depicts them in their environment, explains the motives of their actions, and thus helps the young reader to create his own picture of the historical period depicted. Reading OMIŠKE GUSARE, we see how a complicated and incomprehensible history becomes a story of greed, love, the fight for freedom, perseverance, and justice... The novel Omiški gusari is a reading material for the 6th grade of elementary school.
