Bakreni Petar
"Bakreni Petar" is a novel by the famous children's writer Ante Gardaš. In it, the characters of ordinary, everyday children, special for their extraordinary research spirit and great curiosity, lead us through another exciting story.
The action takes place in the fictional town of Muresko. Professor Leopold, Miron and Melita's father, rescues Peter the Copper - a boy from a destroyed planet affected by bacteria - and hides him in his home. Peter, lonely and strange (with armor and unusual blood), joins the Amateurs: Myron, Melita, Mysterious Ivan, Eucalyptus and others. They explore underground tunnels, inspired by archaeologists' debates about Cleopatra's tooth (group password!).
Conflicts with rival Ukikans (numismatists like Ugursuz and Sphinx) are full of tension: raids on excavation sites, captures and betrayals (Triple Joja sells secrets for grades). Petar's bravery shines in adventures, but an injury reveals his origin - a blood test causes panic and the media. The professor protects him with false statements, and Petar disappears from the hospital, returning as an adopted son.
The climax brings reconciliation: the Ukikans join the Amateurs, and the group celebrates in joy. The novel celebrates boyish curiosity, tolerance for difference, and the strength of the collective, with vivid descriptions and humor. A popular reading for 5th-6th graders, it promotes empathy and imagination.
