Come Closer

Come Closer

Tarkan

Turkish pop star Tarkan's first English studio album from 2006 brings a fusion of Eastern melodies and Western R&B sounds, led by the hit singles "Bounce" and "Start The Fire".

Released in 2006, the album “Come Closer” is the long-awaited debut English-language studio album by Turkish pop star Tarkan. After conquering the world music charts in the late 1990s with the international megahit “Šımarık”, Tarkan spent years carefully preparing this project intended for the global market, collaborating with renowned foreign producers and authors such as Wyclef Jean, Lester Mendez and Billy Mann.

The album brings a modern and urban pop sound that skillfully combines contemporary R&B and dance rhythms with recognizable, oriental melodies and traditional Turkish instruments. The lead singles, the dynamic “Bounce” and the seductive “Start The Fire”, perfectly reflect the energy of the release, while songs such as “Aman Aman” and “Just Like That” bring rich texture and characteristic Eastern charm to the Western pop format. Tarkan’s expressive vocals and charismatic performance further connect these two musical cultures.

"Come Closer" remains an extremely interesting and production-wise polished chapter in his career and a unique example of international pop fusion, making it an essential part of the collection for all fans of contemporary pop with an oriental touch.
