Satanik BG #2: U vražjem leglu

Satanik BG #2: U vražjem leglu

Max Bunker

In Los Angeles, Satanik sees a wealthy couple’s engagement as an opportunity for advancement. Beneath the social glamour lie debts, blackmail and criminal interests.

U vražjem leglu follows Marny Bannister as she enters Los Angeles society under a new identity. The engagement of Alan Madison and wealthy heiress July Quinn attracts her attention as an opportunity to advance her own interests. Behind the respectable names, however, lie debts and connections with the underworld.

Max Bunker constructs a crime story about money, blackmail and social appearances. Satanik is no investigator seeking to restore justice: she regards other people’s weaknesses as tools for achieving her ambitions. Intelligence and attraction become weapons, while the possibility of exposure creates further danger.

The episode continues the development of the antiheroine introduced in Zakon zla. Physical transformation has brought no moral renewal, instead opening possibilities for revenge and power. The reader follows someone whose decisions both drive the plot and threaten those around her.

Magnus’s artwork combines expressive faces, seduction and unease, emphasising the contrast between elegant appearances and underlying violence. This early episode helps establish the series’ combination of Italian crime comics and horror. Reading Zakon zla first provides the background to Marny’s transformation and the origins of her criminal identity.
