A book by the French writer and existentialist philosopher Simone de Beauvoir from 1970 in which the author seeks a better understanding for the elderly.
At the threshold of old age, at sixty years old, Simone de Beauvoir writes about the existential questions of old people. With his book Starost, he tries to resolve the doubts that inevitably arise for an emancipated person as he ages. Old age is the necessity of a long life for which we are not sufficiently prepared, so Simone de Beauvoir covered the topic as an anthropological, economic, sociological, historical, political and civilizational issue. Written in the form of an essay, the book is richly interwoven with the author's personality.
