Gospođa Bovari

Gospođa Bovari

Gustave Flaubert

This novel follows the story of Emma Bovary, a young and dreamy woman who is trapped in an unsatisfactory marriage to the country doctor, Charles Bovary.

She longs for adventure, romantic passions and glamor that she often finds only in books and fantasy. Emma Bovary is both a romantic heroine and a neurotic petty bourgeois, a bad wife or a passionate rebel against the conventions of bourgeois society. Her desire for a higher life, luxury and passion leads her to extramarital love and fatal consequences. Flaubert created one of the cornerstones of modern world literature with his precise language, meticulousness in depicting reality and unforgettable characters.
