Geoffrey Hodson

The purpose of writing this book about angels is to provide knowledge that can serve as a basis for further study of the angelic hierarchy.

The relationship and attitude of angels towards God is fundamentally different from that of man. They do not realize the existence of a central personalized individual consciousness, but of a universally diffused life force or energy, an intelligent force which pervades the whole system, forms and endows every atom with a soul, and fills the whole space between forms, whether it be planet, atom, or sun.

Although they do not recognize this power as an all-pervading presence, they know that they are part of it, that they are its embodiment. They know no other will or intelligence by which their activities were guided. The predominant feature of their consciousness is the realization of union with each other and with the central source. Selfishness, detachment, longing, possessiveness, anger, fear, rebellion or bitterness are not characteristic of them, because the basis of their existence is the knowledge of the unity of all life. They are the living embodiment of unity. They express to perfection, each on their own level, all the qualities of a character that is naturally harmonized and that arises from that realization.

All angels are instinctively full of love, although their love is much more personal than human love. In the object of love they do not see a desired object or an attractive character, but another embodiment of the same life force that inspires them...
