Agnesina ispovijed

After being sentenced to death by beheading, Agnes is sent to a lonely farm where she awaits her execution and begins her confession to Deacon Tóti about what really happened and what preceded the bloody crime in which she was involved. Agnes' confession is a novel with an intriguing plot, and the pleasure of reading is contributed by lyrical descriptions of Icelandic landscapes and a faithful reconstruction of the harsh patriarchal culture from the beginning of the 19th century in the most remote European country. The novel has been translated into twenty languages, and a film adaptation is expected with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role.
