This book was published in 1965 in New York with the goal of "bringing the people of the USA and Japan closer together so that they appreciate and understand each other and the ways of life of both nations."

The book can be considered a "reminder" for writing a haiku poem, especially since it contains at the end of the book in twelve points the basic philosophy and methodology of writing haiku poetry.
