Shea Anderson has four important rules in life, and one of them is that she will never accept a proposal with a ring that already belonged to someone. A happy marriage is a challenge in itself even without bad karma. That's why Shea starts to panic when her boyfriend John proposes to her with a beautiful diamond ring he bought at an antique store. She agrees, but her grandmother's superstition and her parents' unhappy marriage prompt her on a mission - to find the former owner of the ring to make sure that it has strong positive karma. With the help of her older sister Annie and a journalist's stab in search of a big story, Shea embarks on an exciting journey that takes her from Los Angeles, through New York, all the way to Italian trattorias and magical Portuguese beaches.
