Matt is a biologist and videographer who has been working in Alaska for months. His wife Yasmin and their deaf daughter Ruby come to visit him for Christmas. He was supposed to meet them at the airport, but instead the policeman gave them the terrible news that Matt had died. Yasmin and Ruby refuse to believe it, so they set out on their own in search of Matt. Yasmin and Ruby set out on their own in an uncertain search for Matt through the endlessly icy and dark Alaskan night, through the frozen wilderness, where nothing grows, where no one lives, where tears they freeze... They go deeper and deeper into the land of silence, but they don't find him. But someone has been watching them from the dark all this time. Soon, in addition to the cruel Mother Nature, they have to fight a mysterious stranger who wants to kill them...
