Rokselana

Rokselana

Johannes Tralow

The main heroine of this historical novel, set at the time when the Ottoman Empire was at the peak of its power, is Rokselana, the famous lover of Suleiman the Magnificent.

The novel follows Rokselana's extraordinary rise based on her Tatar origin, which gave her a distinctive appearance, wisdom and strong character, but also on her love for her husband, their sons and her tireless fight against harem intrigues. Before the eyes of the reader, such clear pictures of the medieval Orient and faithfully described historical details are created, as Johannes Tralow depicts them in all his books. The main heroine of this historical novel, set at the time when the Ottoman Empire was at the peak of its power, is Rokselana, the famous lover of Suleiman the Magnificent. As a small and delicate Tatar girl, she grew up in the steppe without parental care, rejected by her peers who oppressed her by calling her ugly. However, she escapes from such an environment, enters the King's harem as a servant, and there she becomes Hurem - Suleiman's favorite wife, and finally, empress and co-ruler.
