Život i djelo: Rembrandt

Život i djelo: Rembrandt

Douglas Mannering

A lavishly furnished monograph about one of the most powerful figures in the history of European art.

In addition to a short biography, the book is rich in reproductions arranged in chronological order, and each of them is accompanied by an interpretation of the technique, motifs and conditions in which the work was created. Rembrandt van Rijn created within the tradition of Dutch Protestant art of the 17th century and was endowed with a previously unseen gift of observation. Along with his famous self-portraits, the main feature of his art became a special technique of using light and shadow, chiaroscuro. He reached the peak of his fame in 1641 when he created his most famous work, the group portrait The Night Watch.
