Terje Stigen

Obsessed with Love by Terje Stigen is a novel about a love affair that gradually turns into an obsession. Through conflicts, jealousy, and emotional dependence, it depicts the destructive power of uncontrolled passion.

Love Obsessed is a novel by Norwegian writer Terje Stigen that follows the relationship between a man and a woman whose strong attraction gradually turns into emotional dependence. Instead of a harmonious love story, the novel shows how feelings can develop into possessiveness and mutual exhaustion.

The main characters enter a relationship convinced that they have found a person who completely understands them. However, as the relationship becomes more serious, doubts, jealousy and the need for control arise. Every meeting, conversation or absence of the partner becomes too important, so ordinary life situations become a cause for conflict. Mistrust gradually suppresses the closeness that initially connected them.

A large part of the novel is dedicated to the characters' inner turmoil. The author shows their fears of abandonment, insecurities and the need to be loved at all costs. Because of this, they make decisions that further damage the relationship and drive them further apart.

Through a series of emotionally tense situations, Stigen explores the border between love and obsession. The novel shows how a feeling that should bring happiness can become a source of suffering when it turns into a need to possess another person. The focus of the work is not on external events but on psychological processes that gradually lead to the breakup of the relationship and the protagonist's personal crisis.
