Otkriće sveta u stripu #6: Kortes i zlato Asteka

François Lambert, Mino Milani

"Discovery of the World in Comics: Cortés and the Gold of the Aztecs" is part of the legendary comic series published by Dnevnik from Novi Sad in collaboration with Larousse from Paris. This volume, the sixth in a series of 24 issues, deals with the conqu

This volume contains two stories: "Cortés and the Gold of the Aztecs" (art by Carlo Marcello, screenplay by François Lambert) and "Hernando de Soto: From Florida to Texas" (art by Enrique Ció, screenplay by Mino Milani).

The story of Cortés describes his conquest of the Aztec Empire with a small force (300 infantry, 15 cavalry, and 10 cannons), exploiting the discord among the native tribes and his tactical advantage. The conquest was completed in 1522, when New Spain became part of the dominions of Charles V, and the gold and silver were sent to Spain. The comic highlights the courage, but also the cruelty of this undertaking, and the long-term consequences of Spain's rapid enrichment.

The series is known for its educational and historical approach, covering topics of exploration from ancient times to modern expeditions, with artistic contributions from French cartoonists.
