Nedostižni dvorac 1-2

Nedostižni dvorac 1-2

Howard Spring

The Impenetrable Castle is one of the author's more famous works, dealing with family relationships, inheritance, social change and moral dilemmas, set in England during the turbulent 20th century.

The novel's plot probably revolves around a family home or estate – symbolically called a "castle" – which has represented a dream, security and prestige for generations. The main characters, often younger heirs or idealists, aspire to this "castle" but never truly reach it – either due to personal weaknesses, social obstacles or moral compromises. The novel depicts the fates of several characters linked by family, love and social ties, through decades of great historical upheaval (wars, class struggles, changing values). As in other Spring novels, the focus is on the characters' internal development, their dilemmas and conflicts between the past and the present.
