Koji zajeb!

Koji zajeb!

Jonathan Coe

The original title is "The Fall of the House of Winshaw or Which ...." - an allusion to E. A. Poe's famous story "The Fall of the House of Usher".

The Winshaws are an eccentric English family, most notably Tabitha, an old lady who "went crazy" when her brother was killed fighting in Germany during World War II. She hires a writer to write the family history. The book also features the voices of other Winshaws, building a "wonderful family saga" in a completely modern way. A mix of novel genres – crime, humor, horror and family novel in a typically postmodernist manner – and before you is an ironic, critical-fictional analysis of the state of society in Great Britain at the end of the last century, and it is easy and enjoyable to read.
