Bosa

Bosa

Vanda Mikšić

Fusions in search of fragments of identity, in a combination of verses and prose fragments, are at the forefront of this collection.

My main preoccupations remain human fragility, as well as fragile humanity, the points at which the system loses its footing and bursts at the seams. And a system can be a society, just as it can be a microsystem of an individual who suddenly finds himself barefoot. And most importantly (for poetry), all this happens (only) in language…” These are the words of the author Vanda Mikšić, who has so far published three poetry books in Croatia and four titles in France, one of which was written directly in French in co-authorship with Jean de Breyne. The book’s editor, Miroslav Mićanović, believes that this is a manuscript that “strongly encroaches on those places that, due to their immediacy, seriousness and specificity, seem familiar to us to the extent that language reaches us as the final and only possible sign for what is happening to us, what has happened to us…” In it, the central place is occupied by “the metamorphosis that occurs when the marginal, the peripheral becomes important and decisively shapes the image of the existing world, or multiplies and incorporates into the text so many other invisible metonymic relationships, connections. It is about the temptation of the fantastic and the possible, or what belonged and belongs to our nightmares, fears, and now appears or is the only possible reality.” It is a hybrid text that covers a wide thematic range on the seesaw of waking and dreaming, reality and fiction, experience and "recorded" story, precise verse and sometimes lapidary, sometimes fragmentary and somewhat riotous writing in a completely unexpected and unique way that captures the confusion and uncertainty of the time in which we live. In short, "Vanda Mikšić Bosa's manuscript contextualizes the muteness and powerlessness that in many ways accompany different artistic practices of recent decades, because numerous -isms have opened up a game in which everything is possible and nothing is possible. It is as if reality has transcended what naturally belongs to imagination, language, creation!"
