Romeo i Julija

William Shakespeare

The tragedy Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous works of the famous English writer William Shakespeare and one of the most famous love tragedies in general.

It is Shakespeare's first tragedy, which he wrote in 1593, after two, now lesser-known comedies. The work was created in the first period of his creativity, and he got the inspiration for it from the well-known legend about the lovers from Verona, who ended their lives tragically, precisely because of love.

The tragedy is about two young people who fall in love with each other, despite the fact that they come from two rival families, where hatred and rivalry reign. Their love seems impossible at first, but they still get married in secret. In various conflicts between the two families, Romeo kills Juliet's cousin and therefore has to flee the country, but he remains in hiding so as not to leave Juliet.
