The collection Materials for the History of Croatian Literature, Book X, brings together scholarly contributions on Croatian writers, works, biographies, and literary-historical research.

Materials for the History of Croatian Literature, Book X, is a scientific collection published by the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts. The book is part of a long-standing academic project of collecting, publishing and interpreting sources important for the study of Croatian literary heritage.

The content of the collection brings together works by prominent literary historians, philologists and researchers dealing with different periods of Croatian literature. Special attention is paid to biographies of writers, analysis of literary works, determination of authorship, research of literary sources and publication of new data from archival materials.

Among the published contributions is Vladimir Ćorović's extensive study of Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević's readings, which occupies the largest part of the volume. Šime Urlić brings several contributions dedicated to Dubrovnik's literary and cultural history, including discussions of Dinko Ranjina, Mara Lili and Mara Battitorra, editor of the first edition of Čubranović's Jeđupka. Petar Kolendić investigates the identity of Don Sabić Mladinić, while Đuro Körbler discusses Palmotić's Gomnaid. Juraj Božitković writes about the life and work of Fra Petar Knežević, and Vladoje Dukat contributes to the biography of Fran Kurelc.

The collection also contains short scientific contributions by Stjepan Banović that shed light on certain literary and historical doubts, such as the origin of Preradović's nickname "Petar od Perlata Kapetan", the circumstances surrounding the creation of Palmotić's ballad Tomić-Mihovila, and questions related to the Croatian version of Batrahomiomachia. Aurel Kolander publishes two poems by Ferdo Rusan, while Vjekoslav Noršić presents another Kajkavian hymnal from the 18th century.

This book represents a valuable source for researchers of Croatian literature, cultural history, and philology. The works contained in the collection contribute to a better understanding of the development of the Croatian literary tradition, literary connections, authors and texts from the early modern period to the modern period, and even today they have significant documentary and scientific value.
