Mraclin - u srcu Turopolja

Ratko Cvetnić, Stjepan Čunčić, Ivan Đuretić, Žaklina Hrkovec, Josip Kos, Marina Kos, Maja Mravec, Zdenko Sovina, Vasna Tafra

The collection "Mraclin - in the heart of Turopolje" is a richly illustrated small monograph about the history, tradition, associations, heritage and everyday life of this large Turopolje settlement.

The booklet "Mraclin - in the heart of Turopolje", although originally conceived as a modest brochure for promotion, has grown into a real small monograph with over 230 photographs. The editors-in-chief are Matija Kos (president of the KUD), Ratko Cvetnić, Josip Kos and Maja Mravec (graphic design), and about twenty collaborators and locals participated in its creation.

The collection presents the life of Mraclin today and yesterday through 17 chapters: the work of associations (KUD Dučec, Women's Society, sports clubs, etc.), religious life, economic activities, traditional architecture (čardaci), events and rich cultural heritage. A special chapter is dedicated to the Mraclin dialect, based on the records of linguist Antun Šojat, with around 150 characteristic words and explanations.

The book is richly illustrated with photographs collected from locals, which makes it a warm and personal testimony of identity. It is intended for every Mračin home, visitors, business partners and younger generations who want to get to know their roots. It was presented in September 2021 in the Tomislav Hrkovac Park along with the short film "Mraclinski govor".

This is a valuable popular publication that successfully preserves and promotes the Turopolje heritage, the pride of the Mračin people and the richness of life in the heart of Turopolje. It is available through the Dučec Cultural and Artistic Association.
