Kritika političke ekonomije: Predgovor i Uvod
Preface and Introduction Marx's Critique of Political Economy summarizes historical materialism: society develops through production relations, and the economic base determines the political and cultural superstructure.
The 1949 Preface and Introduction in the Kultura edition represent a selection of key parts of Marx's 1859 manuscript, known as A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy.
In the Preface, Marx sets out the fundamental postulate of historical materialism: the material conditions of production form the basis of society, while political, legal and cultural forms form the superstructure that corresponds to them. Changes in the productive forces lead to conflict with existing relations of production, which triggers social revolutions.
In the Introduction, Marx further clarifies the method of the critique of political economy, emphasizing that social categories cannot be understood from abstract ideas but from concrete historical relations. He emphasizes the importance of the analysis of production as a starting point for understanding capitalist society.
This edition, translated by Moša Pijada, played a significant role in the post-war reception of Marx's thought in the Yugoslav region and was often used in education and political theory. The text remains one of the key sites of Marx's theory of social change and is often used as an introduction to Marxist economic analysis.
