Hey Jude / Revolution
On this legendary 1968 single—presented here in a rare original Indian Parlophone pressing—The Beatles combine the monumental ballad "Hey Jude" with the raw rock energy of "Revolution".
The Beatles – Hey Jude / Revolution, a rare 1968 Indian 7" release on the Parlophone label (catalog number DP 570). This is an original Indian pressing manufactured for The Gramophone Co. of India, featuring mono sound and the original 4-prong push-out center. The matrix numbers for this release are 7XCE 21185 / 7XCE 21186, and the documented runout variant bears the markings "1TI".
"Hey Jude"—written by Paul McCartney primarily as a message of encouragement to John’s son, Julian—grew into one of the Beatles' most famous compositions. Starting intimately with the piano, it builds toward a monumental finale featuring a long "na-na-na" refrain, demonstrating how far the group had expanded the boundaries of the classic pop single by 1968.
The flip side features Lennon’s "Revolution," a more powerful and significantly harder-hitting version of the song also known from the White Album, characterized by distorted guitars and a raw rock sound. Together, they form one of the most striking Beatles singles of the late 1960s.
This copy is of particular interest to collectors due to its Indian Parlophone pressing and comes in a green Parlophone/EMI company sleeve. Indian discography lists it as the final Beatles single released there on the black Parlophone label prior to the switch to Apple.
