On this legendary 1968 single—presented here in a rare original Indian Parlophone pressing—The Beatles combine the monumental ballad "Hey Jude" with the raw rock energy of "Revolution".
The Beatles – Hey Jude / Revolution; a rare original 1968 Indian 7" release on the Parlophone label, catalog number DP 570. Manufactured in India for The Gramophone Co. of India (Private) Ltd., it features the black Parlophone label and the original 4-prong push-out center. The labels display the matrix numbers 7XCE 21185 / 7XCE 21186.
"Hey Jude"—written by Paul McCartney primarily as a message of encouragement to John’s son, Julian—is one of the Beatles' most famous and successful compositions. Starting with a simple piano intro, it gradually builds into a monumental finale featuring a long, communal sing-along chorus, making it a hallmark of the band's later era.
The flip side features Lennon’s "Revolution," a powerful and highly energetic rock track characterized by aggressively distorted guitars. The contrast between the two songs makes this single one of the Beatles' most striking releases from 1968.
This copy is particularly notable for being an Indian Parlophone pressing, which is significantly rarer on the European market than British editions. It comes in a generic white paper sleeve, as shown in the photographs.
