Filozofija u tragičnom razdoblju Grka

Friedrich Nietzsche

Nietzsche's unpublished manuscript (until 1903) deals with the Pre-Socratic thinkers (6th-5th century BCE), focusing on their personalities and unique styles, as opposed to later "sectarian" philosophers like Plato.

According to Nietzsche, the pre-Socratics bravely explored the cosmos without myths, searching for the truth about life. Nietzsche celebrates them as geniuses who lived in accordance with their teachings, embodying the tragic spirit: freedom, depth and pessimism.

Nietzsche sees in them the heroes of the tragic age: they are "great individuals" who shaped culture by strength of character, not systems. Their thought - intuitive, poetic - inspiration for the future against decadence. (The book hints at Democritus, but breaks off.) This period shows the possibility of a life full of depth, where the truth hurts but liberates.
