The novel Mladice (1938) depicts the life and spiritual growth of the young generation of Croats in the interwar period – their ideals, internal conflicts, love, national awakening, and search for meaning in turbulent times.
The poems abound with the fairy enchantment of the Breton world, while at the same time providing a depiction of medieval court life in the 12th century.
"Many years ago I published a number of poems, and forgot about them. I was fifteen years old at the time. Actually, I was thirteen or fourteen when I wrote them, and they were published as "Poems of a Fifteen-Year-Old" in the magazine Forum."
The general opinion is that the play represents not only a sound and valid theatrical model but also a brilliant literary work, which belongs to the anthology of Western dramatic poetry.
