Pripovijetku je objavio Mijat Stojanović u svojoj knjizi Pučke pripovijetke i pjesme, objavljenoj 1867. Uz nju je Stojanović zabilježio: "U Samcu od brodara Marka iz Kobaša, grad. krajina god. 1835."
