Rachel Price has only one fond memory from her childhood: the moment her father took her hands while they were playing outside on a cold, snowy day and called her his angel.
It was a rare and sacred moment in her young life, a moment in which she finally felt safe, loved and protected. But that didn't last. Many years later, Rachel's daughter is the only light in her gloomy life. Rachel repeats the behavior patterns she learned as a child and exposes her own daughter to the same destructive behavior. Trapped in a marriage with an abuser, but huddled in the safety of the familiar, she is too afraid to escape. Rachel accepts life as it has become, even making excuses for those who keep throwing her into despair and regret. But then an unexpected phone call from an old friend changes everything. Her orderly world is turned upside down when she embarks on a journey that could be her last chance to save the life she gave up long ago.
