The book is part diary entries, part documentary reconstruction, with elements of memoir and political prose.
"The chronicle The Hijackers of a Lost Dream describes in detail the famous terrorist act of Croatian emigrants, the hijackers of an American passenger plane on September 10, 1976, which was intended to point out the unenviable status of Croats and the subordinate position of Croatia within Yugoslavia. Maruna, as one of the official translators, was a direct witness to the trial of the actors of that action. One of the main organizers of that hijacking, Zvonimir Bušić, served his sentence in an American prison until July 2008. The book also contains very important documents whose aim was to inform the American and world public."
