Ondjaki's novel Good Day, Comrades speaks from a child's perspective about the events in war-torn Angola, magical childhood, and true friendship. Written in simple, fluent language, colored with warmth and vitality, the novel simultaneously presents the reader with a touching human story and insight into the political history of a distant African country.
