The Starrett family takes him into their home, and Shane helps them with their daily chores and defends them from a wealthy rancher named Ryker, who wants to drive the small farmers off their land. As the conflict becomes more dangerous, Shane is forced to take up arms again to protect innocent people. Although he wants to live a peaceful life, his past and his skills as a gunfighter lead him to the final showdown.
