The album Christmas Songs By Sinatra, originally released in 1948 under the auspices of Columbia Records, represents the first holiday project in Frank Sinatra's rich career. This release has gone down in history as one of the first conceptual Christmas pop albums in general, defining the sound and mood standard for all future holiday records in the tradition of American jazz and traditional pop genres.
Under the baton of conducting and arranging by Sinatra's longtime collaborator Axel Stordahl, the album exudes a warm, intimate and elegant atmosphere. The centerpiece of the release is extremely moving and flawlessly vocally performed arrangements of some of the most famous Christmas standards, including timeless classics such as "White Christmas", "Jingle Bells", "Silent Night, Holy Night", "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town". Sinatra's baritone combined with rich string and wind orchestrations creates an inimitable sense of holiday peace and nostalgia.
As a historical foundation of "Ol' Blue Eyes'" holiday discography and an indispensable soundtrack to the Christmas spirit, this CD is an invaluable piece for all collectors of classic pop, jazz, and timeless musical heritage.
